APS22 Hydrofluoric Acid-Resistant pH Electrode
The ARTang APS22 is designed for online pH measurement in aqueous process liquids containing hydrofluoric acid. The maximum stated hydrofluoric acid concentration is up to 4000 ppm under confirmed process conditions.
The APS22 is suitable for selected semiconductor wastewater, metal-treatment processes, electronics and electroplating wastewater, steel-industry effluent and other diluted HF-containing aqueous streams.
- Measurement range: 0~14 pH
- Maximum stated HF concentration: up to 4000 ppm
- Operating temperature: 0–100°C
- Operating pressure: 0–3 bar
- Standard PG13.5 process connection
- Multiple insertion lengths and connector options
- IP68 for applicable sealed configurations
Product Description
The APS22 uses a specialized HF-resistant glass, an HF-service GFT gel electrolyte, and a double-junction design. Combined with a multi-pore ceramic junction and optional configurations, it offers improved resistance in hydrofluoric acid media while maintaining stable pH measurement performance.
Multiple insertion lengths, temperature elements and electrical connectors are available for new installations, OEM systems and replacement projects.

FAQ
The 4000 ppm value refers to hydrofluoric acid (HF) concentration, not total fluoride.
No.
The specialized glass provides improved resistance compared with conventional pH glass, but HF can still attack it. Higher HF concentration, lower pH, higher temperature and longer exposure generally increase the rate of glass degradation.
Hydrofluoric acid reacts with the silica structure of conventional pH glass.
This can cause:
- Membrane etching
- Measurement drift
- Slow response
- Reduced slope
- Thinning of the sensing membrane
- Premature breakage
- Shortened electrode life
Possibly, but PG13.5 thread compatibility alone is not sufficient.
Also confirm:
- Electrode length
- Insertion depth
- Connector type
- Temperature element
- Cable configuration
- Transmitter input
- Process pressure
- HF compatibility
Yes.
Available customization includes:
- Two-point or three-point ceramic junctions
- Annular porous PTFE junction
- Application-specific reference electrolyte
- Multiple insertion lengths
- Temperature-element options
- Connector configurations
